This was a largely home made wedding with friends and family generously giving time and resource (as well as the hard work of the couple themselves) to create Luke and Rebecca's special day at the Private Banks Sports Ground Pavilion, Catford. I was delighted to be their London Wedding DJ supplying
music for the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening reception party
mood lighting throughout the building. The colours for the bridal scheme were lavender/lilac and a light lime green, as shown below. The mood lighting matched "just perfect" - Luke.
I used the very popular starlight DJ booth, with a couple of Rovers for dynamic action in front and two colour co-ordinated mood lights behind. Given that 150 people were expected to attend I popped a bass bin in the corner for deep bass to carry through the venue.
There was a great atmosphere straight off from the arrival of the guests at the drinks reception - appropriate music is such a big contributor to this time of the event and creating that welcoming ambience. As important is the lighting. Get it right from the entrance and all else follows naturally. A notable feature of the venue is its sloping roof and from a ledge below I set up some well directed light bars, in keeping with the colour scheme of course.
Everyting was beautifully co-ordinated throughout the venue and pretty much all went to time; as much as any wedding can do! The speeches were humourous but also very emotional, to which the guests responded warmly. They were delivered in between courses, the food cooked by a chef with a growing reputation and well known to Luke who is in the catering trade also. My music kept matters flowing and received many positive comments - see the playlist below. Of course as the meal finished we moved in to the arrival of the evening guests and the convivial atmosphere continued.
Luke and Rebecca chose Omar's There's Nothing Like This, as their First Dance; a tune that hit the mark with most, as guests joined them on the floor.
Thereafter the dance action was non-stop as I went through a huge range of genres and styles, responding to some great requests and playing my own choices - see the playlist below - finishing with a R&B set. A big hit of the night was Cameo's Candy, there was not enough room on the dance floor.
Luke and Rebeca exited their special day to Michael Buble's Save the Last Dance For Me, but the dancing went on for a while thereafter - a great celebration.
